How to register with the GDC once you have qualified in the UK

To practise as a dentist or dental care professional in the UK you are required to be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). It is illegal to practise dentistry until you have registered and been issued with a GDC registration number.

Before you apply for registration as a dentist or dental care professional with the GDC, you must:

  1. Read the guidance on registration as a UK qualified dentist or DCP
  2. Set up an online account [add link]. Please contact us if you require a reasonable adjustment
  3. Complete the route to registration questionnaire
  4. Apply online.

Please remember it is illegal to practise dentistry in the UK before a registration number is issued.
